Event Details
Step back in time with the stirring sounds of fifes and drums as the Colchester Continentals bring Revolutionary-era music and pageantry to life. Founded in the late 1800s and reformed in 2004, this Connecticut-based corps performs in authentic 18th-century-style uniforms, complete with military overalls, green waistcoats, and haversacks.
Known throughout New England and beyond, the Continentals have performed everywhere from Valley Forge to Disney World, and even appeared on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Their powerful performances honor America’s history while celebrating the spirit of independence.
Join us for this special America 250 event and experience the music, history, and tradition that have inspired generations.
A kids’ craft will be available for little listeners and refreshments will be served.
Doors from the rear parking lot will open at 6 p.m.
Please be advised that this performance may be quite loud due to the nature of fife and drum music. Attendees with sensitive hearing are encouraged to bring ear protection.
Registration is required. Babies and lap children are welcome but should not be registered.
This event and others in this series are sponsored by the Friends of Welles-Turner Memorial Library in memory of Isabella Waters, who was a generous library supporter.
